Henry County Jail Roster Overview
The Henry County Sheriff's Office runs the inmate inquiry portal at the official county subdomain. The Sheriff's main site links the search alongside court operations, bonding, visitation, and open records. The Sheriff is Reginald B. Scandrett, the county's 29th sheriff and the first African-American sheriff in Henry County history. The biography page describes the office's S3 student initiative, the Restorative Center, and a designated mental-health unit for severely mentally ill detainees.
The roster does not show every person ever booked. It is a current-custody snapshot. The portal supports filtering by booking date and a "In Custody" checkbox, but historical custody data is not always accessible through the public view.

The Sheriff page is the official gateway to the jail roster, bonding rules, open records, and the scam warning that applies to inmate-related calls. People who only know the Sheriff's name can also confirm context through the official biography page.

The biography page also outlines Sheriff Scandrett's career path from detention officer to Chief Deputy in DeKalb County before his election in Henry County.

Henry County Jail Facilities
The official jail operations page states that the Henry County Jail has capacity to house 900 detainees across two facilities. At capacity, the jail produces nearly 2,700 meals per day, which is the simple arithmetic for three meals per detainee. The jail provides comprehensive medical, mental health, and dental services and operates Administration, Operations, and Support Services divisions. Administration covers policies, jail courts, vendor compliance, bonding company liaison, and training. Operations covers admissions, release, housing, the Restorative Center, and jail security. Support Services covers maintenance, supplies, uniforms, video visitation, inmate classification, and inmate releases.
The jail's mission, stated on the official page, is to provide care, custody, and control while promoting community reintegration through education, career training, and treatment to reduce recidivism. The Restorative Center is highlighted in the Sheriff's biography as a partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine, WorkSource Georgia, and the Atlanta Regional Commission to provide curriculum, mindset change, and job opportunities to detainees nearing release.

The Sheriff sets bonding rules under Georgia law, including the authority in O.C.G.A. ยง 17-6-15. Bond posters must be at least 18 with a valid government-issued photo ID. There is a non-refundable $20 fee per bond. Cash bond requires the full bond amount; the cash is returned at final disposition or applied to fines if elected at booking. Surety bonds use licensed bonding companies, with 12 to 15 percent non-refundable fees.
Henry County Jail Visitation
HCSO uses ICSolutions Advanced Technology for visitation. Two types are listed: video visitation from a remote device with reliable internet, and in-person on-site visitation. All visits must be scheduled in advance through the JailATM platform.

Sending Money and Mail to Henry County Inmates
Inmate accounts run through Access Corrections. Deposits accept the Access Corrections mobile app, the website, the jail lobby kiosk, CashPay Today, and the phone line 1-866-345-1884. Cash deposits are limited to $300 or less, and internet deposits have a $300 weekly limit. Accounts at $300 or more cannot receive deposits until the balance drops.

The deposit page also lists deductions for property damage, escape costs, a $5 wristband replacement, a monthly administrative fee, and $5 per medical or dental appointment.
Mail is limited to pre-stamped or metered USPS postcards. Letters in regular envelopes are returned. Exceptions cover legal mail, money orders, and photographs. Money orders should be addressed to "Henry County Sheriff's Office, ATTN: Inmate Accounts, 120 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253," payable to "The Henry County Sheriff's Office," with the inmate's name and PIN on the memo line. No envelope correspondence is allowed.

Postcards must be white, with blue or black ink only, sized between 3.5 by 4.25 inches and 4.25 by 6 inches. Stickers, perfume, watermarks, and altered surfaces are not accepted.
Inmate Telephone Calls
Telephone service uses ICSolutions Advanced Technology. Each inmate has a personal PIN. Call options include debit calls charged to the inmate commissary account, prepaid accounts funded by family or friends, or collect calls billed to the receiving party. Calls are recorded and monitored; using the system constitutes consent from both parties.

The 2025 RFP required one phone per pod to allow toll-free calls to the Henry County Public Defender's Office.
State and Federal Custody Searches
The Henry County roster shows only people in county custody. To find someone who has moved to state prison, use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search.

The GDC search supports name, ID or case number, age, and other identifying information. For federal custody, the BOP inmate locator takes a register number or name. For victim notification, the VINELink portal sends custody-status alerts.
Property Return After Release
Clothing and personal property are collected at booking. Inmates have 15 days from jail entry to arrange someone to pick up clothing, shoes, coats, belts, and caps. The inmate must designate the pickup person, who must present valid photo ID. After 15 days, the items are donated or discarded. Phones, keys, wallets, and jewelry stay in property and are returned at release. People who are released have 30 days to pick up remaining property. Pickup hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 3 PM. A debit card is issued for any remaining commissary balance, or the funds transfer with the inmate to a transferring agency.
Open Records Requests for Henry County Jail Records
The Sheriff's Open Records page applies the Georgia Open Records Act to law-enforcement records. The agency responds within three business days to determine whether records exist and are subject to disclosure. Copy fees cannot exceed ten cents per page for letter and legal copies. Labor costs are billed at the hourly rate of the lowest-paid qualified employee who can do the work, and the first 15 minutes are free. Estimated costs above $25 trigger a notice before work begins, and costs above $500 may require prepayment.
Submit requests by digital form, by email to HCSOOpenRecordsRequest@co.henry.ga.us, by PDF or fax to (770) 288-7116, or in writing to HCSO Open Records, 120 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. The Open Records direct line is (770) 288-7043.
Scam Warning From the Henry County Sheriff
HCSO never asks for payment by phone, text, email, social media, gift cards, cryptocurrency, Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, or similar apps. Real bond payment runs through the jail lobby or licensed bonding companies. Any caller demanding immediate payment to release a Henry County inmate is running a scam. Hang up and call (770) 288-7100 to confirm directly.
